Every year around this time it happens: the planners come out. Blogs are written on which planner will be the best for the next year and they start popping up in all the stores you visit. Despite the fact that we live in an ever increasing digital age people, especially young adults, flock to planners. Why is this? And do planners actually do any good?
What's the Deal with Planners?

Planners have always been around and have always been popular. But each year it seems like more people hop on board and the hype increases more and more. But why do people use planners? Are they even useful?
According to Oset Babur at Vox people crave control over their ever changing schedules and crazy busy lives. With so much going on all the time we want to feel like we have a handle on it all. However, there is more to planners than just the calendar aspect. Your planner could include goal tracking, meal planning, budgeting, and more. Planners are customizable and extra pages or sections can usually be added (although generally at a higher price tag). This just adds to the level of organization people are experiencing in their planners.
What I Think

Planners are pretty cool. I am a journaling person, so writing things down regularly is already something that I do. And planners aren’t a far stretch from that. One of the biggest reasons I think that planners are successful is because when you physically write something down it helps you remember it better. So writing down all those important dates cements them in your brain so that you won’t forget!
My Plan
I could definitely use more control and organization in my life. And while I’m not going to abandon my digital calendar for good, 2020 is going to be my year to test out the world of planners. I already got my planner so that I can prepare myself to use it. It’s really cute and I am pretty excited to see where this planner adventure takes me.
Let me know if you have any advice on using a planner!
